Get Inspired from a Hero

Hi there, I’m Kirstie Ennis, a former United States Marine Corps sergeant turned adventurer, activist, and athlete. I was born and raised in Florida and joined the Marine Corps at the age of 17. During my military career, I was involved in a helicopter crash that left me with a left leg amputation above the knee, damage to my cervical spine, and facial trauma. Since then, I have devoted my life to inspiring others and giving back to my community. I am an advocate for veterans’ issues and work with organizations such as the Semper Fi Fund, the Bob Woodruff Foundation, and the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors.

I am also an athlete and mountaineer, having climbed some of the world’s highest peaks, including Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Everest.

Just a Veteran Amputee

Trying to Save The World

They can take our limbs in service to our country but they will never take away the soldier and spirit burning inside of you. Until the day we die, we are warriors, survivors, and a symbol of resilience to our county. Amputation is just a physical setback, but it does not define who you are as a person, minority or a veteran. Choose to focus on what you can do, rather than what you cannot and inspire others to do the same. At the end of the day, it’s not about how many limbs you have, a disability, or perceived limitations, it’s about the strength of your heart, the endurance of your character, and the depth of your courage.
